In this episode, the last in Series 1 of Man Talk, I meet with Sean Jones (@seanj_1987). Sean reached out to me in the early days of Man Talk and expressed a desire to talk about his issues with PTSD. Sean served in the army for over 15 years, during which time he was awarded the Military Cross. Sean’s experiences in the army have left him close to ending it all, twice. He speaks openly about his mental health, his relationship with his wife, the army, alcohol and those suicidal episodes. Sean is now on the road to recovery and intends to use his experiences to help others who may be in his position…
Man Talk, is my podcast that's helping to tackle men’s mental health and normalise the conversation.
I've battled with mental health issues for most of my adult life, but I'm now in a position where I feel strong enough to use my experiences to create a platform where men can talk openly about how mental health has effected them. Each episode sees me, chat to a range of guests who have experienced depression, anxiety, suicidal episodes, grief, PND and much more. Episodes are recorded on location, in the guests’ homes, the park, or in a local pub, thus setting the tone for a show that enables them to open up and help remove the stigmas and taboos that are associated with men’s mental health.
The show is produced in support of the charity, CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably).
Man Talk is available on iTunes and most of the regular platforms. Please subscribe to ensure you don’t miss an episode.
