In this episode, I’m in London with Simon Hooper, who a lot of you will know from Instagram as @father_of_daughters. Simon is known for his amusing portrayal of modern fatherhood and the ups and downs of being a hands-on dad to four girls. Over a beer we discuss all things parenthood, including the anxiety he experienced after learning he was going to become a father at just 24. We also talk about how he’s dealt with the pressures created by the social media spotlight, how he struggled to deal with his mother’s illness, and his advice to anyone experiencing mental health problems…
Man Talk, is my podcast that's helping to tackle men’s mental health and normalise the conversation.
I've battled with mental health issues for most of my adult life, but I'm now in a position where I feel strong enough to use my experiences to create a platform where men can talk openly about how mental health has effected them. Each episode sees me, chat to a range of guests who have experienced depression, anxiety, suicidal episodes, grief, PND and much more. Episodes are recorded on location, in the guests’ homes, the park, or in a local pub, thus setting the tone for a show that enables them to open up and help remove the stigmas and taboos that are associated with men’s mental health.
The show is produced in support of the charity, CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably).
